A few weeks ago in Te Ngahere we were writing Informational reports about countries. My country was Australia because I really like that country a lot but it was really hard to find out information about it.
WALT: Write an informational reportAustraliaHave you ever been to Australia before?Because if you haven’t did you know that Australia is the world's 6th largest country around. You will get to know about Australia’s history, culture, tradition and the Capital. TraditionAustralia celebrates some of the world's celebrations like Christmas and Easter. But also Australia has there own celebrations that they celebrate themselves like, Australia day, Melbourne cup and Eureka Stockade.HistoryThe first person who discovered Australia was an englishman called William Dampier in 1688. But then in 1770 a british sailor named Captain James Cook found a piece of land on the east coast of australia. He named it New South Wales and said that It was For British citizens. CapitalAustralia's Capital is Canberra, Canberra has forest’s all around it. Canberra’s focal point is Lake Burley Griffin, that has many sailboats and kayaks in it. On the lake shore is a modern parliament house and Museums as well as a National Gallery.ConclusionAs you can see, Australia has a long history and also has it’s own Culture and Traditions. If you would like to find out more about Australia, there are some books that you can find like 30 Days In Sydney, Claiming A Continent and more.
