Australia celebrates some of the world's celebrations like Christmas and Easter. But also Australia has there own celebrations that they celebrate themselves like, Australia day, Melbourne cup and Eureka Stockade.

History
The first person who discovered Australia was an englishman called William Dampier in 1688. But then in 1770 a british sailor named Captain James Cook found a piece of land on the east coast of australia. He named it New South Wales and said that It was For British citizens.

Capital
Australia's Capital is Canberra, Canberra has forest’s all around it. Canberra’s focal point is  Lake Burley Griffin, that has many sailboats and kayaks in it. On the lake shore is a modern parliament house and Museums as well as a National Gallery.

Common Nouns and proper nouns

Last week Te Ngahere was learning to use common nouns and proper nouns, we learnt that the difference of a common noun and a proper noun is that a proper noun is specific and has a capital. We got to chose if we wanted to work in pairs or by ourselves, but I worked with Arihia. Here is our google drawing.
